Teacher Assistant Hunt Thomas has long worked with taping student announcements, and to tap the wider - specifically the Latino community - they are now releasing Spanish language announcements.

Students in English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher Barbara Vogt and those in Rachel Sumrell's Spanish language classes are recording the announcements, which inform those who are not fluent in English of things like Saturday school, exam schedules and other special events. The announcements are translated by students and then reviewed by Vogt or Sumrell. This is a good tool for students to get used to speaking in front of a camera and writing scripts, as well as affirming their skill of speaking dual languages. MHS Principal John Luciano had the idea. "Improved communication has long been one of the primary goals of our School Improvement Team," noted MHS Principal John Luciano. "We have worked diligently to achieve this goal. Realizing that the Latino population is increasing in our school, we felt that reaching out to our Spanish speaking students and parents through video and social media in their native language was a great way to inform them of current events. The response has been very positive."
