  Principal John Luciano

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year.  We are dedicated to preparing each and every student for life beyond high school, no matter what path that is.  We encourage everyone to become active in the many, varied activities we offer whether it be sports, band, clubs, community service projects, or plays.  We have something for everyone!

Academically, we have a variety of AP classes, standard, but very rigorous courses, in math, science, English, social studies and world language as well as CTE classes with some new offerings including gaming design, Adobe Visual Design, culinary arts, child development, and public safety.

To help our students achieve, our school is on its fourth year of our one-on-one initiative, making a Chomebook available to each student.

The many accomplishments and achievements of our students reflect a shared dedication by our staff, students, parents and community to provide the best learning opportunities for all of our young people.  This past year, we were ranked 31st out of all public high schools in North Carolina by U. S. News and World Report, we achieved our highest school performance composite on End-of-Course exams with a score of 80.2, and we have exceeded growth for 3 consecutive years and expect to do so again.  One of our goals is to be an “A” school as determined by State guidelines. We continue to work toward that end by the use of Intervention Time (IT), Saturday School, and computer assisted programs.

Our website is one of the several new tools to promote parent and community engagement in the academic, athletic and artistic endeavors of our young people and celebrating in their successes.  Additionally, you can access student attendance and academic progress through the parent portal of PowerSchool.

Good luck and have a very productive year!

At Manteo High School we believe:
  • Every Students can learn, achieve and succeed.
  • Students learn best when uninterrupted classroom in instruction is the top priority, and when that instruction is both rigorous and relevant.
  • Students excel when instruction addresses individual needs.
  • Parents, teachers and the community must work together with students to ensure their success.
  • Students benefit from a culturally and academically diverse school environment.
MHS students and staff place a high value on parent and community involvement. We invite your continued contribution and participation to help our students and staff rise to meet today's and future challenges, so we at MHS can continue to be "Proud of our Tradition... Excited about our Future."
