There they'll participate in prevention and peer leadership training, such as workshops conducted by several state agencies including Alcohol Law Enforcement, N.C. State Highway Patrol, Sheriff's and Police Departments, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. These workshops empower students to have a positive effect on school and community attitudes toward the underage use of alcohol, drinking and driving, seat belt use, distracted driving, speeding and other unsafe behavior. The SADD advisers at both schools are School Resource Officers - Mark McKay at MHS and Billy Essick at FFHS. Kiwanis Past President Mark Evans noted, "The mission of Kiwanis is improving lives of youth in our community and we are blessed to be able to donate to such an important club doing great things within Dare County Schools.”  Back - MHS SRO Mark McKay, FFHS SRO Billy Essick, Outer Banks Kiwanis Club Vice President Rox Corbin, and Kiwanis Past President Mark Evans; SADD representatives from left -  MHS SADD members Rosa Garcia, Angela Anacleto; FFHS members Melanie Gonzalez, Diana Bautista Angel; and kneeling Janae Julien (MHS) and Gavin Willis (FFHS).
