Manteo High School's SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) club did not miss the opportunity to conduct a fun activity at school for the students and staff to participate in while educating them about the dangers of tobacco use for the Great American Smokeout on November 16th.

School Resource Officer Mark McKay is the SADD club's adviser at MHS. The club had a table set up next to the school lunchroom and presented a game called, "Blow Bubbles Not Smoke."  Students competed against a friend or teacher to see who could blow the biggest soap bubble.  Each winner received a prize.

On the table next to the game was information pamphlets on the dangers of smoking, vaping, and smokeless tobacco.  Also on the table was a display called Death of a Lung.  This display shows a normal lung, a lung with emphysema, and a lung with cancer from smoking.  SADD club members (at right - from back to front - Samantha Mejia, Vanessa Salazar, Marriah Maqueda, and Janae Julien) are the judges as MHS football cheerleaders compete to see who can blow the biggest soap bubble.
