All Spring Sports Teams Earn Scholar Athlete Team Awards

Manteo High School is proud to announce that all of its spring sports teams earned the Scholar Athlete Teams designation from the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA). This esteemed recognition is awarded to varsity teams that achieve a cumulative unweighted grade point average (GPA) of 3.1 or higher for the participating semester.

The honored teams include:

JV and Varsity Baseball
Varsity Softball
Men’s and Women’s Varsity Track & Field
Women's Varsity Soccer
Men's Varsity Tennis
Men’s and Women’s Varsity Golf

Out of all of the spring sport teams, Manteo High’s men's tennis team achieved the highest team GPA of 3.663.

In total, Manteo High School also boasts 74 scholar athletes for the spring sports season, each of whom maintained an impressive weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher. The NCHSAA scholar athlete designation not only highlights the academic achievements of these student-athletes but also their ability to balance rigorous academic and athletic commitments.

To achieve this designation, public high schools must submit a nomination form verifying the GPAs on behalf of the student-athletes and/or teams. Dare County Schools would like to thank Manteo High School’s Athletic Director Alfie Wheeler for submitting these student nominations and congratulate the spring athletes for their academic and athletic success during the 2023-2024 school year.
