Manteo High School Women’s Wrestling Named NCC Tournament Co-Champions; Coach Metzinger Awarded Conference Coach of the Year
Manteo High School women’s wrestling team continues to make history, securing the title of North Central Conference (NCC) Tournament Co-Champions. This award follows their success as the NCC Dual Team Champions in 2024.
The team showcased outstanding performances throughout the tournament, earning four conference champions, three runner-ups, and two third-place finishes. Manteo’s women’s wrestling program has continued to lead their conference since hosting the first all-female dual meet in Northeastern North Carolina in 2023.
Adding to the team’s success, Manteo’s own Coach Jimmy Metzinger was named Conference Women’s Coach of the Year for his dedication to the team and building a thriving program.
“Coach Metzinger has built this program from the ground up,” said Manteo High School Principal John Luciano. “The success of the women’s wrestling team is a direct result of his hard work and dedication.”
With a strong foundation and continued success, the Manteo women’s wrestling program is quickly proving to be a force in North Carolina high school athletics.
Dare County Schools congratulates Coach Metzinger and Manteo’s women's wrestling team on a successful season.
