Though nearly 90% of our students continue their education after high school, each year we must face the challenge of overcoming the perception in our community that students do not need education beyond high school.  We encourage students to accept the challenge of taking at least one honors or one Advanced Placement (AP) course before graduating. We We have established the AVID program to serve students who have the potential to become the “first generation” in their families to attend college. Through the AVID program, these students are identified as early as middle school and receive academic and social support through AVID teachers, mentors and tutors. In addition, school-wide AVID instructional strategies help all students succeed in more rigorous courses.
