The SECU Foundation offers a 4-year scholarship valued at $10,000 to graduating seniors who plan to attend a 4-year public university in North Carolina. In addition, the student or the parent must be a member of the State Employees Credit Union. The Applications must be emailed to Ms. Yelle in the Counseling Office by March 2nd. Please read the instructions carefully and in particular, note that the 2-page application must be submitted as a Word document, not a PDF. General Scholarships will be posted as we receive them. These are scholarships that are not included in the Local Scholarship Packet.
These are scholarships available to any high school student. Please feel free to review and apply to any you qualify for. For assistance, please see College Advisor Mr. Stevenson.
DECEMBER 2020 Deadlines
Dell Scholars Program: Nationally, 500 Dell Scholars are selected each year to receive a $20,000 scholarship plus lots of non-monetary supports. Deadline: December 1, 2020.
Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship: Recognizes student innovation and youth led solutions to fight hunger in America. The scholarship amount is $5,000, and awards 25 winners. Deadline: December 5, 2020.
“Make the U” : Offers financial relief to Hispanic youth on their path to higher education. 100 recipients will receive scholarships worth $1,000 each. If you are Hispanic or Latino descent, are a rising senior (student graduating in the Spring of 2021), plan to enroll in college in the Fall of 2021, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and are a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident or DACA eligible, you qualify to apply. Deadline: December 6, 2020
United States Senate Youth Program & Scholarship: Provides an opportunity for juniors and seniors to spend a week in Washington D.C. meeting Senators, cabinet members, Supreme Court justices and officials from various federal agencies and the White House. Two winners will be picked to represent North Carolina and receive a $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship. Applications are available Oct. 1 - Dec. 6, 2020. More information can be found here.
Science Ambassador Scholarship: A full-tuition scholarship for a woman in science, technology, engineering, or math. To apply, film a three-minute educational video of yourself explaining a STEM topic you are passionate about. Examples of past winners can be found here. Applications close December 14th, 2020.
Burger King James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship Award: Available to all high school seniors who meet the criteria who have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent, and plan to enroll full-time for the 2021-22 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico. Deadline: December 15, 2020.
Equitable Excellence Scholarship: High School students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000, or $25,000 scholarship. Applicants must be involved in volunteer community service and plan on attending a two or four-year accredited college. Deadline: December 15, 2020, or when 10,000 applications are received.
The "No Sweat" Scholarship - $2,500 to one high school student (grades 9-12) to be used for any educational purposes. Free and quick to apply! Deadline: December 31, 2020.
AQHF Youth Scholarship: Complete a single application to determine if you qualify for a variety of funding opportunities through the American Quarter Horse Foundation.
PB & J Scholarship: For students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but who still have the drive to succeed - such as medical issues, peer issues, or family issues. Awards range from $500 to $1,000. Deadline: December 31, 2020.
JANUARY 2021 Deadlines
Foot Locker Student Athlete Scholarship 2021: This scholarship honors student athletes who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and strong leadership skills in sports, in their schools and in their communities. Deadline: January 9, 2021.
North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program: Deadline: January 11, 2021.
SPRING 2021 Deadlines
2021 Matthew C. Graziadei Achievement Scholarship Award: All North Carolina students with disabilities are eligible for nomination for this scholarship which includes $1,500 to be used for any post high school learning experience/training or for equipment/technology needed for employment. Applications will be accepted through February 10, 2021.
1 for 2 Education Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship is all about paying it forward. Applicants must have a 3.7+ GPA and pledge to pay for a comparable scholarship grant for two people over the course of their lifetime. Due February 16, 2021, or whenever they receive 500 applications (so don't procrastinate!).
Golden LEAF Scholarships: Deadline: March 1, 2021.
Save a Life Scholarship 2020: This scholarship is offered by the American Academy of CPR and First Aid, Inc., exclusively to students majoring in the healthcare and education fields. There is a grand prize of $1,500 for the student that best showcases why they chose their selected major or field of study. The Spring 2021 deadline is May 1, 2021.
